Spanish Rose

Today marks the 125th anniversary of the premiere of George Bizet's Carmen at the Opéra-Comique of Paris. Although met with scathing reviews upon its premiere, the work has become a standard of classical repertory.

A toast to the operatic warhorse: may you enjoy another 125 long and prosperous years of weird modern adaptations and badly edited skating programs.
